Why checking in on what your people are thinking and feeling is so important and what to ask during check ins.
Hi everyone Jackie Strachan from HR Tactics here with another quick HR hot tip for you.
So did you know that the quality of the communication flowing back to you right now is just as important if not more important than the information you’re communicating out to your employees?
So my HR hot tip for today to help you take charge of change is to set up a simple process for checking in on your staff.
This is going to bring you a lot more clarity and certainty around how they’re actually thinking and feeling about working for you and with you right now.
The sort of information that you want to find out is:
-
how safe they’re actually feeling whether they’re working on-site or they’re working at home.
-
How they’re coping with anxiety?
-
Whether your systems and processes are actually allowing them to perform their job efficiently, so that’s around business continuity
-
Whether they’re really feeling emotionally engaged in the work that they’re doing.
Knowing this information is going to allow you to plan proactively, and really build engagement and strengthen that culture, and build trust which is so important at the moment.
Quick suggestions
My quick suggestions are either catching up one on one to check in with them or running a short survey asking questions about how they rate their own wellbeing.
